Four Rooms, Four Clocks

Ash remembered four sounds: the lobby gate, Cade arguing beyond the glass, the extraction rig falling silent, and an archive terminal chiming somewhere she could not see. The court placed those sounds into a convenient order.

Each room kept its own clock. None of the clocks lied, exactly. Together, however, they allowed a stopped procedure to be retold as an authorized one.
